# Bookodile vs Square Appointments

> Square Appointments is the booking product inside Square's payments stack — free at one location with unlimited staff, card processing on every plan. Bookodile is built for a business whose people, rooms and prices differ, with every feature on every account but SMS, and it does not take payments.

## [Bookodile or Square Appointments: what matters most](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#game-changers)

| Bookodile | Square Appointments |
|---|---|
| **[Every feature on a free account](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#game-changer-every-feature-on-a-free-account)** — Every account, the free one included, has every feature and every add-on: the website, AI Chat, reminders, reviews, the team leaderboard. Only SMS need a paid plan, because each one is billed. | **No** ([The same features on every plan](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#no-plan-gating)) — Multi-staff booking, cancellation and no-show fees, classes and the waiting list need Plus; resources and team reports need Premium. |
| **[A website you build with AI — on your own domain, free](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#game-changer-a-website-you-build-by-asking)** — Tell AI Chat what you want and it builds your website with you. The first draft comes in moments, made from your services, prices, team, hours and reviews, in a design you choose. Then just say what to change: “make it feel warmer”, “bring over the words from my old site”, “rewrite our About text”. Photo galleries sort into categories you name, and a category linked to a service gets its own Book button. Prices and opening hours stay in step with your bookings. Your own domain connects at no cost, and nothing goes public until you publish. | **Yes** ([A website for your business](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#website)) — Square Online, from templates and sections in an editor; AI rewrites text on Plus and up, and a domain of your own needs Plus, at $49 a month per location in the US. |
| **[AI Chat — an AI assistant that helps with everything you need](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#game-changer-an-assistant-that-does-the-administration)** — Ask in your own words, typed or spoken, and AI Chat does the work. It sets up services, prices, the team and opening hours. It writes your bios and service descriptions and builds your website. It blocks out a holiday and hands those bookings to a colleague, moves bookings, and tells you what tomorrow holds and who changed what. Every change comes with Undo, in every account, the free one included. | **Yes** ([An AI assistant that sets up and runs your account](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#ai-assistant)) — Square AI, in beta for US sellers, carries out bulk item edits, draft schedules, purchase orders and email campaigns with your approval; bookings, services and the website are not among its tasks. |
| **[Two people, one visit — each blocked only for their part](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#game-changer-two-people-one-visit)** — A visit can give each part its own team member, time and room, back to back. Each person is blocked only for their own part, and your team moves the whole visit in one step. | **Partly** ([Back-to-back services with different team members](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#multi-staff-sequential)) — Multi-staff booking is on Plus and Premium; nothing says the people work back to back or are each blocked only for their part. |

## [What Square Appointments charges](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#pricing)

Per location, per month, and never per person — 'there is no employee limit' on any tier. In the United States the plans are Square Free at $0, Square Plus at $49 and Square Premium at $149 per location, with a custom Square Pro for businesses processing over $250,000 a year; Plus and Premium each carry a 30-day free trial. Free is one location only, and on Plus and Premium every extra location pays the full plan fee again. Processing fees are the other half of the bill and apply on Free too. Square's own pages disagree by region: the UK, Irish, French, Spanish, Canadian and Australian pages still sell 'Square Appointments' Free, Plus and Premium at lower per-location prices — £29 and £69 in the UK, €19 and €49 plus VAT in Ireland, France and Spain, CA$35 and CA$85 in Canada, A$40 and A$90 in Australia — and third-party pages still print the older US prices of $29 and $69. Read the page for your country, and note that moving to the new Square Free, Plus and Premium plans is one-way: Square says you cannot switch back to a prior subscription.

## What Bookodile charges

A base rate per location plus a rate per booking spot that actually took a booking that month, in country bands. Every feature and add-on is included at every price, there is no commission, and it is free at one location with up to two active spots and 40 bookings a month. The one thing billed by use is SMS: they need a paid plan and are billed per SMS on its invoice, capped each month. The figures live on one page so they cannot drift: https://bookodile.com/pricing — and the model is explained at https://bookodile.com/docs/what-bookodile-costs.

## [Why businesses switch from Square Appointments](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#why-switch)

- **[Two people, one visit, each blocked only for their part](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#reason-two-people-one-visit-each-blocked-only-for-their-part)** — Square's multi-staff booking, on Plus and Premium, assigns each service in an appointment to its own team member and puts it on that person's calendar; its help centre does not say whether the services run back to back or whether each person is blocked only for their own service. A Bookodile combo gives each stage its own team member, its own duration and its own room, booked back to back, and each person is blocked only for their stage.
- **[A price and a duration per person, not a variation per person](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#reason-a-price-and-a-duration-per-person-not-a-variation-per-person)** — Square has no price or duration field on a team member. To charge or time a service differently per person you create a variation of the service with its own price, its own duration and its own list of who performs it. Bookodile prices and times a service per team member or per category such as Junior and Senior, and the customer sees which is which.
- **[Every feature on every account, including a free one](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#reason-every-feature-on-every-account-including-a-free-one)** — On Square, multi-staff booking, the waitlist, classes, buffer time, confirmations and Google Calendar sync sit on Plus, and rooms and equipment and the team performance report sit on Premium; moving to the new plans is one-way. Bookodile has one plan with free limits: every account, free or paid, has every feature and every add-on. The one exception is SMS, which need a paid plan — and US and Canadian numbers are coming soon, not here yet.
- **[Rooms and equipment with a capacity, on any account](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#reason-rooms-and-equipment-with-a-capacity-on-any-account)** — Square's resource management is Premium only, reserves one resource per booking, and does not document a capacity above one or a booking with no person attached. In Bookodile a service can need a room alone, a person alone, or both, with a capacity that is enforced when the booking is made, and it is included at every price.
- **[The business's time zone on the team's screen too](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#reason-the-businesss-time-zone-on-the-teams-screen-too)** — Square's booking site can be locked to the business's time zone, but the team's calendar 'will reflect the time zone of the device you are using'. Bookodile shows every time in the business's own zone, on the dashboard as much as on the booking page, and a customer in another zone sees both clocks before confirming.
- **[Available where Square is not, in your customers' language](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#reason-available-where-square-is-not-in-your-customers-language)** — A Square account can be opened in eight countries — the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France and Spain — and the product runs in English, French, Spanish, Catalan and Japanese. Bookodile's booking page comes in 17 languages, Slovak, Czech, Vietnamese and German among them, with up to eight per location and a switch for the customer, set separately from the language you read the dashboard in. Its wording beyond English, Slovak, Czech and Vietnamese was written by AI and has not yet been read by a native speaker.

### [Pricing](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#group-pricing)

| | Bookodile | Square Appointments |
|---|---|---|
| [A free plan that stays free](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#free-tier) | **Yes** — Free at one location with up to two active booking spots and 40 bookings a month, with every feature and add-on — SMS aside, which need a paid plan. Not a trial — a plan a small business stays on. A paid plan starts with 14 days free rather than a charge. | **Yes** — Square Free is free for good at one location, with no limit on staff calendars, the booking site, Instagram, Facebook and Google booking buttons, text and email reminders, recurring appointments and Square Assistant. Nothing is charged until you take a payment, and then only the processing fee. [source](https://squareup.com/us/en/appointments/pricing) |
| [No commission on bookings](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#no-commission) | **Yes** — No commission, no new-client fee, no per-booking charge. The bill is the subscription, plus any SMS you send with the SMS messages add-on, billed per SMS and capped each month. | **Yes** — No cut of a booking and no marketplace fee — 'you only pay processing fees when you take a payment'. The Square Go listing is free and takes no payments at all. [source](https://squareup.com/us/en/appointments/pricing) |
| [Every feature included](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#everything-included) | **Partly** — Every feature and add-on is included — reminders, reviews, vouchers, the waiting list, forecasting, Messages, AI Chat and the website with your own domain. The one thing billed by use is SMS: the SMS messages add-on is free, and each SMS is billed monthly with a paid plan at a price per country, never more a month than a cap that starts at the plan's own price. Each location is billed at a base rate. | **No** — Text marketing beyond the bundle costs 3¢ a message on Plus and 1.5¢ on Premium; Payroll is a separate product at $35 a month plus $6 per person paid; gift cards carry a 2.5% load fee below Premium; the Kiosk and KDS apps are charged per device; and every extra location pays the plan fee again. [source](https://squareup.com/us/en/appointments/pricing) |
| [The same features on every plan](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#no-plan-gating) | **Partly** — One plan, with free limits: every account, including a free one, has every feature and add-on. The one exception is SMS, which need a paid plan, because each one is billed on its invoice. | **No** — Plus holds multi-staff booking, processing time, the cancellation policy and no-show fees, classes and packages, the waitlist, confirmations, custom text notifications, Google Calendar sync, a daily booking limit, custom permission sets, marketing and loyalty. Premium holds resource management, the team performance and future bookings reports, service cost tracking, the 0% gift-card load and 24/7 phone support. [source](https://squareup.com/us/en/appointments/pricing) |
| [No minimum term or cancellation fee](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#no-contract) | **Yes** — Monthly, no minimum term, no cancellation fee. There is no yearly plan. | **Yes** — Billed monthly or annually, and you can 'cancel or switch plans anytime'. A downgrade takes effect at the next billing cycle, and moving to the new Square Free, Plus and Premium plans is one-way. Whether annual billing is discounted, and what is refunded, are not published. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/6383-manage-your-appointments-subscription) |
| [Processes your customers' card payments](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#payment-processing) | **No** — Bookodile does not take your customers' money. The payment-tracking add-on records what you were paid; payment stays between you and the customer. | **Yes** — Square is the processor. In the US: 2.6% + 15¢ in person on Free, 2.5% + 15¢ on Plus and 2.4% + 15¢ on Premium; 3.3% + 30¢ online on Free and 2.9% + 30¢ above it; 3.5% + 15¢ keyed in or card on file. The UK and Irish pages publish their own rates, 1.75% in person on both. No way to use another processor is documented. [source](https://squareup.com/us/en/appointments/pricing) |

### [Taking bookings](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#group-booking)

| | Bookodile | Square Appointments |
|---|---|---|
| [A hosted booking page](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#hosted-booking-page) | **Yes** — bookodile.com/your-business, with your logo, colour, services — each with its photo, when you add one — and hours. One page per location. | **Yes** — A booking site on every plan, including Free, with a link to share. It can also be a page on a Square Online website. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5355-set-up-online-booking-with-square-appointments) |
| [Booking on your own website](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#embed-widget) | **Yes** — One snippet embeds the whole flow in any site — WordPress, Wix, Squarespace or hand-built — inline or behind a Book-now button in your brand colour. A QR code is generated for print. | **Yes** — A Book Now button as HTML to paste, an HTML widget, and 'advanced widgets' pre-filtered to a team member or a service, plus a native booking page inside Square Online. No website-builder restriction is documented. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5355-set-up-online-booking-with-square-appointments) |
| [Customers book without an account or an app](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#guest-booking) | **Yes** — The customer gives only the details you require — a name, and an email, a phone number or both. No account, no app, no password. My Bookings, a web page they sign in to with an emailed code or Google, shows every booking they hold, if they want it. | **Partly** — No password and no app, but the flow asks for a mobile number, sends a security code by text, and creates a customer account automatically from it. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/6439-manage-your-client-profile-with-square-appointments) |
| [Several services in one booking](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#multi-service-booking) | **Partly** — Combo services chain stages into one booking, and the extras you configure are offered during booking, in more than one round. Customers do not pick arbitrary pairs from the catalogue — you decide which combinations exist. | **Yes** — A switch, 'Allow multiple services to be booked online', lets a customer put several services into one appointment. The settings article does not mark it as plan-gated, unlike the multi-staff switch beside it. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5351-manage-your-square-appointments-account-settings) |
| [Back-to-back services with different team members](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#multi-staff-sequential) | **Yes** — Each stage of a combo can have its own team member, its own duration and its own room, booked back to back. Each person is blocked only for their own stage, never for the whole visit. Staff move the whole visit in one step, with the times that fit every person in it shown first. | **Partly** — 'Multi-staff appointment booking' on Plus and Premium: one appointment, several services, each assigned to its own team member and shown on that person's calendar. The help centre does not say whether the services run back to back or whether each person is blocked only for their own service. Reserve with Google bookings cannot hold more than one service. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/7238-multi-staff-appointment-staff-scheduling) |
| [Rooms, chairs and equipment as bookable resources](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#resources) | **Yes** — Rooms, chairs and equipment with a capacity and their own hours. A service can need a resource alone, a person alone, or both, and capacity is enforced when the booking is made. A service linked to several takes whichever one is free; a booking never holds two at once. Each one is open to anyone who does its services, or kept for named people when it belongs to them — three juniors share a chair while the master has his own. | **Extra cost** — Premium only. Rooms, stations, equipment or chairs are attached to a service and one is reserved automatically per booking; a resource belongs to one location. A capacity above one, and a booking with a resource but no person, are not documented. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/7065-square-appointments-resource-management) |
| [Classes and events with a capacity](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#group-classes) | **Yes** — Events with a capacity and a registration list for one-off things; a recurring class is a service on a resource with a capacity, so it fills up and stops. | **Yes** — On Plus and Premium: classes with a set number of spots, an instructor, a recurring schedule and online booking. No waitlist for classes, the date and time of a recurring series cannot be edited, and changing a class's time, location or duration cancels and refunds every existing booking. Not bookable through Reserve with Google or Facebook. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/7991-class-booking-with-square-appointments) |
| [A different price per team member](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#per-staff-pricing) | **Yes** — A service can be priced per team member, or per category such as Junior and Senior. The customer sees each person's price as they choose who, and the category's name too if you show it. | **Partly** — No price per team member as such. A service can have variations, each with its own price and its own list of who can perform it, which reaches the same result by hand. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/6487-create-a-service-from-the-square-appointments-app) |
| [A different duration per team member](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#per-staff-duration) | **Yes** — A service can take a different time per team member. Leave someone blank and they use the service's own duration. | **Partly** — The same mechanism: a variation carries its own duration and its own team members. There is no duration field on the person. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/6487-create-a-service-from-the-square-appointments-app) |
| [Buffer time that blocks the calendar](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#buffer-time) | **Yes** — Each service can have its own buffer after it, up to 120 minutes, which blocks the person and any resource it used. Enforced on the booking page and in the booking API. | **Yes** — 'Block extra time after appointment' per service, on Plus and Premium but not Free. Separately, 'processing time' splits a service so another customer can be booked into the gap. No buffer before a service is documented. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/6487-create-a-service-from-the-square-appointments-app) |
| [A waiting list with automatic offers](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#waitlist) | **Yes** — Your team adds customers to the list; they cannot join it from the booking page. When a booking is cancelled, the time is offered automatically by email to whoever has waited longest for that service, with three hours to confirm — or until the time starts, if sooner — and confirming books them straight in. If nobody confirms, it goes to the next person waiting for that service within about ten minutes, as long as the time is still ahead and still free. | **Partly** — On Plus and Premium. Customers join from the booking site or are added by staff, and an optional setting notifies them when an opening appears, at most once every six hours. The channel of that notification, and whether the customer can take the slot from it, are not documented. Not available for classes. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/7923-waitlist-with-square-appointments) |
| [Recurring bookings](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#recurring-bookings) | **Partly** — Your team can repeat a booking of one service from the calendar — weekly, every two weeks or monthly, up to 52 visits — and cancel one visit or the whole series. A combo or a booking with add-ons cannot be repeated. Customers cannot book a recurring appointment themselves. | **Yes** — Repeat appointments on every plan, created from the calendar; each repeat initially carries the price of the first booking. Whether a customer can book a repeating series online is not stated. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5349-schedule-and-accept-appointments) |
| [Booking rules](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#booking-rules) | **Yes** — Minimum notice (up to 72 hours), how far ahead (up to 365 days), start times every 5 to 60 minutes, auto-confirm or your approval, and a cancellation window (up to 168 hours) with late cancellation allowed or not — one set of rules per location. | **Yes** — Minimum notice from one hour to four weeks, advance booking from seven to 365 days, auto-accept or approve by hand, slot spacing by service length or 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes, a cancellation cut-off from one hour to two weeks, and a filter that hides 25, 40 or 50% of open times. A daily booking cap needs Plus. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5351-manage-your-square-appointments-account-settings) |
| [Customers cancel or reschedule themselves](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#self-service-cancel-reschedule) | **Yes** — Customers reschedule or cancel themselves from the link in their confirmation and reminder emails, or in My Bookings, outside your cancellation window, and can tell you why. A reschedule moves the whole visit in one step to a free time with the same team members and price, and the customer's calendar event moves with it. Inside the window they cannot reschedule online, and can cancel only if you allow late cancellations, once they accept they may be charged. | **Partly** — A switch lets customers reschedule or cancel before the cut-off, but it is documented inside the cancellation-policy article written for Plus and Premium. Prepaid appointments cannot be cancelled by the customer, and bookings made through Reserve with Google are changed from Google. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5493-set-a-custom-cancellation-policy-with-square-appointments) |
| [Deposits and no-show protection](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#deposits-no-show) | **No** — No card on file and no deposits, because Bookodile does not process payments. A no-show is marked on the booking and counted on the customer's record, never charged. You can let customers cancel late once they accept you may charge them; collecting it is up to you. | **Yes** — On Plus and Premium per the help centre: no requirement, full prepayment, or a card held for a no-show fee that is flat or a percentage of the service and chargeable up to 14 days after; deposits can be set per service. The US pricing page lists 'appointment deposits' under Free while the cancellation policy sits under Plus — the two pages disagree. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5493-set-a-custom-cancellation-policy-with-square-appointments) |
| [Extras offered while booking](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#upsells) | **Yes** — Extras are offered while booking, per service or per category, in up to several rounds, with an optional discount for adding them. A service can be offered only as an extra, off the list of services. | **Yes** — Modifiers attached to a service appear as add-ons during online booking, optional or required, each with its own price and extra duration. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/6487-create-a-service-from-the-square-appointments-app) |

### [What customers see](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#group-customers)

| | Bookodile | Square Appointments |
|---|---|---|
| [A website for your business](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#website) | **Yes** — Included in every account, the free one too. Built from your booking setup — services, prices, team, hours and reviews stay in step with it — with templates (switching one keeps every page, or takes a template whole with its texts rewritten for your business from your setup), one page or several in any of them, your own look, extra pages, languages, your Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube as icons in the footer, and a photo gallery in categories you name — a category linked to a service opens its photos with that service's price and a Book button — photos made or enhanced with AI, changed by asking in your own words — pointing at any part of it on the preview — or by hand, typing straight onto the page and moving, copying or changing its sections where you see them, on a computer or a phone, and nothing public until you publish. An old website comes over by asking: its pages rebuilt as sections, with their own words and photos. It starts at yourname.bookodile.com; connect a domain you already own, at no cost, and it moves to www.yourbusiness.com. Every Book button opens your booking page at bookodile.com/your-business — the one under each team member with that person already chosen — and a Website visits report counts who came, from where, and how many booked, without cookies. Running promotions, upcoming events and announcements show on it too, and update themselves as they start and end. No blog, no online shop, and no code of your own. | **Yes** — Square Online, a website builder with page layouts, a blog, an online store and SEO tools, is listed on Square Free, Plus and Premium, and it can hold the booking site. It is built from templates and sections in a site editor; the booking site lists the services set up in Appointments, which can be arranged or removed there, and a location's address and hours edited in the account update the site editor, published again to go live. 'Rewrite with AI' writes alternate versions of a text section, on Plus or Premium; no AI that builds or changes the site from a request in plain words is described. On Free the site lives on a free square.site address: connecting a domain you already own, or buying one through Square — 'for as low as $19.95 a year' on the US website-builder page — needs Plus, $49 a month per location on the US page. [source](https://squareup.com/us/en/appointments/pricing) (read 2026-10-17) |
| [Makes and improves your photos with AI](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#ai-photos) | **Yes** — Included in every account, the free one too, up to 30 photos a month per account, each try counted. Take a photo on your phone and Enhance it, a team member's or a service's too: in your own words in any language, with ideas for your kind of business, by picking a look from pictures, or by putting a person or finished work into a photo of your own place, with before and after to compare. Create a photo from a description for a place on your website that has none — the top of a page, a service's cover, a card, or your gallery — in your own photo style. Then say what should change, like "remove the hand" or "clear the background", and it edits that photo, keeping every version. AI Chat can make several at once. You choose each one, and nothing is public until you publish. It works on your website's photos: it will not make a person's face, your team's portraits or the outside of your place, because customers should see the real ones. | **Partly** — Square's AI photo tools sit in Photo Studio, a separate free iPhone app 'for online selling' made for product photos, not in Appointments or the website editor. Its background remover 'uses artificial intelligence to detect the primary object' and take the background away, and the AI can improve the image; Square's October 2023 announcement adds AI-generated backgrounds from more than 50 style prompts for e-commerce sellers. The site editor's own image library is stock photos, over 100 million of them, on Plus or Premium; none of the pages read describes a tool that makes a picture for the booking site from a description. | [Listed in a consumer marketplace](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#marketplace) | **No** — No marketplace. Your booking page carries only your business, and no competitor is shown beside you — which also means it sends you no new customers. | **Partly** — Square Go, a free consumer app for the United States only, where customers find, book and rebook businesses Square describes as 'beauty and personal care'. The listing is optional, and no payment goes through it. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/8025-get-started-with-square-go) |
| [An app for customers](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#customer-app) | **No** — No consumer app to download. Customers book in the browser. My Bookings, a web page they sign in to with an emailed code or Google, lists every booking they hold with any Bookodile business; there they cancel, keep their details up to date and can turn off a business's SMS. | **Yes** — Square Go, in the United States. Elsewhere customers use the web booking site with a phone-verified customer account. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/8025-get-started-with-square-go) |
| [Booking page languages](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#languages) | **Yes** — The booking page, the embedded widget and every email about a booking come in 17 languages: English, Slovak, Czech, Vietnamese, German, Hungarian, Polish, Ukrainian, Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Romanian, Croatian, Slovenian and Chinese. Each location has a main language — English, Slovak, Czech or Vietnamese — and can add up to seven more, from the same list as its website. With more than one, the booking page shows a language switch and opens in the customer's own language when the location offers it (from the link, their last choice or their browser), otherwise in the main one. Every email and SMS about a booking goes out in the language it was made in; SMS in Ukrainian or Chinese go out in English, because they would not fit one SMS, while their emails and booking page stay in that language. Service names, descriptions, team bios and the location's other texts are translated automatically by AI, and the owner can correct any translation; names are never translated. The booking page's own wording in the 13 languages beyond English, Slovak, Czech and Vietnamese was written by AI and has not yet been read by a native speaker. What your customers read and what you read in the dashboard are separate settings. | **Partly** — The app lists English, Catalan, French, Japanese and Spanish, and notifications go out in the business's preferred language. Slovak, Czech, Vietnamese and German are not offered. [source](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/square-appointments-scheduler/id1023050786) |
| [Your business's time zone, shown correctly](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#timezones) | **Yes** — Every time is shown in the business's own zone, including on your dashboard. A customer in another zone sees both clocks before they confirm. Locations in different zones each keep their own; the group's combined monthly totals count on one clock. Each location writes its times on a 24-hour or a 12-hour clock (2:30 PM) — its country's until you pick one — on the booking page, in emails and SMS, on the website and in the dashboard alike. | **Partly** — The booking site can let the customer pick a time zone or be locked to the business's. The team's calendar 'will reflect the time zone of the device you are using', not the business's. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/8447-troubleshoot-customer-appointment-communications) |
| [Branding](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#branding) | **Partly** — Your own domain, at no cost: connect one you already own and your website moves to www.yourbusiness.com (the website row). The booking page its Book buttons open stays at bookodile.com/your-business, and the widget puts the same booking inside any other site you run, on that site's domain. Your logo, a second logo for dark backgrounds, a logo that links back to your own website, your brand colour with a contrast check, and announcements along the top of your booking page and your website. No custom CSS. | **Partly** — Button colour, text, shape and font; site layout, fonts and colours; a logo through Square Online. A custom domain and custom code need a paid Square Online or Square plan. Whether 'Powered by Square' can be removed is not documented. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/7243-customize-your-square-online-booking-site) |
| [Dark mode on the booking page](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#dark-mode) | **Yes** — The hosted page follows the customer's device, and a sun-and-moon button lets them switch; My Bookings keeps the same choice. Your brand colour is adjusted to stay visible on dark. The embedded widget stays light on purpose, so it matches the website it sits in. | **Not published** — Dark mode arrived in August 2026 for the team's app. Nothing published says whether the customer's booking page has a dark theme. |
| [Book buttons on Google, Instagram and Facebook](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#social-booking) | **No** — No Reserve with Google or Instagram integration. Your booking link, bookodile.com/your-business, goes in your Google profile, your bio or a post like any link. Campaign tracking, an included add-on, gives ready-tagged links for Google, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok and counts the bookings each one brings. | **Yes** — Reserve with Google, an Instagram Book button and Facebook booking on every plan, in Square's eight countries. Reserve with Google bookings are auto-accepted and cannot include several services, prepayment or classes. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/6567-reserve-with-google) |
| [Found on Google under your own name](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#search-visibility) | **Yes** — On from the start, once an automatic check of the business name passes — normally within minutes: your booking page is in the sitemap search engines read, under your business's name, with your own description and address as the snippet, and Bing and others are told when it changes. A published website is listed the same way at its own address, from its first online booking or two weeks after publishing. One switch keeps both out. Search engines still decide what to show and when. | **Yes** — A Square Online site, which can hold the booking site, has SEO details for the whole site and for each page, image alt text, and a setting that hides it from search engines, on Square Free, Plus and Premium. Square says it does not give SEO consultation. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/6874-seo-settings-for-square-online-store) (read 2026-10-16) |

### [Running the business](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#group-operations)

| | Bookodile | Square Appointments |
|---|---|---|
| [An AI assistant that sets up and runs your account](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#ai-assistant) | **Yes** — AI Chat, in every account including the free one, with a daily allowance per account. Ask in English, Slovak, Czech or Vietnamese, typed or spoken: it answers how-to questions from this documentation and your own settings, explains why a day has no free times and who changed what; sets up team, services, prices, hours, rooms, booking rules, add-ons, logo and brand colour, and the order of your services and team; writes bios, your about text and service descriptions; builds and changes your website's draft and brings over the words of an old site; and moves, cancels or hands over bookings and blocks time, once or repeating. It shows every change first and waits for you to apply it, with Undo — only texts and the website's draft go in at once, still with Undo, and the website stays private until you publish. It answers you, not your customers, and does not create bookings. | **Yes** — Square AI — called Managerbot in its help article and in Square's April 2026 announcement of an open beta for most US food and drink, retail, and health and beauty businesses at no extra cost — in the Dashboard and the POS apps, for the owner and team members with full access; in beta and listed on every plan, Free included, on the US pricing page. Asked in your own words, it answers questions on sales, staff and customers and support questions about the account, and carries out tasks with your review and approval — bulk item and menu edits, draft team schedules, purchase orders, email campaigns — any of which it can undo. Appointments, services and the website are not among the tasks it lists, and the article says it 'can't answer every question or take on every type of action'. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/8617-use-managerbot-to-manage-business-tasks-and-insights) (read 2026-10-17) |
| [Calendar](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#calendar) | **Yes** — Day, week and month. Drag a booking to a new time or a different person — the calendar names any clash first, and Undo puts it back for ten seconds after. Block out time for the business, one person or a resource — once, or repeating every day, on chosen weekdays, every two weeks or every month. Add a walk-in; filter by person, service or resource. A visit with several services moves as one — dragged, or from the booking dialog, which shows the times that fit everyone first and still takes any other day and time, listing what it clashes with. | **Partly** — Day, week, five-day and month views; one person, everyone combined or side by side; colour by person or service; personal events as blockers and a double-booking warning. Dragging a booking to a new time is not documented. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/8442-set-up-calendar-view-filters-for-appointments) |
| [A native app for your team](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#staff-app) | **No** — No native app. The dashboard is a web app that installs to a phone's home screen and works there, online. No push notifications: the team is told about bookings by email. | **Yes** — 'Square Appointments: Scheduler' on iOS and Android, and a bookings mode inside the Square Point of Sale app. [source](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/square-appointments-scheduler/id1023050786) |
| [Several locations in one account](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#multi-location) | **Yes** — Up to 50 locations in one account — a guard against misuse, raised on request — each with its own team, hours, services and booking page. A new location can start from one you have — its services with prices, hours, booking rules, logo and colours and website — and takes the team members you pick. Customers are one list across them, a team member can work at several with one sign-in, and a group dashboard totals them. The free plan covers one location; each location is billed at a base rate. | **Yes** — On Plus and Premium; Free is one location. Each location pays the plan fee again — $49 or $149 a month in the US — and a resource can belong to only one of them. [source](https://squareup.com/us/en/appointments/pricing) |
| [Roles and permissions](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#roles-permissions) | **Yes** — Owner, Manager, Employee and Receptionist ready-made, or build a role and set each permission by hand — including whether someone sees only their own bookings, customers and figures, takes bookings at all, can message customers, or manages billing, which only the owner can give. | **Partly** — Three ready-made sets — Service Provider sees their own calendar, Front Desk sees every calendar, Manager adds account settings. Custom permission sets need Plus in the US and Premium ('Advanced Access') on the UK, Irish, French, Spanish and Australian pages. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5350-create-staff-member-profiles-for-square-appointments) |
| [A history of who changed what](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#change-history) | **Yes** — Activity records changes to bookings, customers, services, resources, the team, time off, blocked time and settings: what changed from what to what, who did it — a team member by name, the customer, or automatic — how and when. Each role sees the history of what it can open, a booking's own history sits in the booking window with what the customer was sent, and it exports to CSV. Kept 24 months, in every account. Not recorded: what a role may do, prices set per team member or category, payment records, billing and add-on records such as vouchers; a note shows as edited, never its words. | **Partly** — An Activity Log of what each team member did — refunds, discounts and voided transactions — comes with Square Plus ($49 a month per location in the US) or Premium. A history of who changed an appointment, a customer or a service is not published; the appointments History tab lists past appointments to view, edit and export. [source](https://squareup.com/us/en/staff/advanced-access) (read 2026-10-16) |
| [Reports](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#reports) | **Yes** — Revenue, bookings, average value and cancellation rate over the last twelve months, charted month by month, with bookings by status, new customers, top services and the team ranked by revenue; per location or across all. A no-show counts as a booking, never as revenue. Website visits shows who came to your website, from where, and how many booked. Forecasting, revenue split, booking sources and payments received are included add-ons. The period is fixed at twelve months. | **Partly** — Sales and reconciliation reports on every plan, labour cost and team sales on Plus. The future bookings report, service cost tracking and the team performance report (retention, pre-booking and utilisation) are Premium on the pricing page, although the reporting article scopes the last one to Plus. Recurring appointments are left out of the metrics until they are paid or edited. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/7904-square-appointments-reporting) |
| [A leaderboard for the team](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#team-leaderboard) | **Yes** — A monthly competition on bookings or revenue that the whole team sees, with a winner per category if you want one, results frozen and emailed on the 1st, and a Hall of fame. Revenue amounts stay hidden from the team unless you show them. Up to three at once, per location. An included add-on. | **Partly** — The Team Performance report shows client retention, pre-booking and schedule utilisation per team member, for the account owner or anyone given the reporting permission — which the default service provider and front desk roles do not have. Nothing is described as a ranking or a winner, and the report sits on Premium. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/7904-square-appointments-reporting) |
| [Point of sale, stock and payroll](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#pos-inventory-payroll) | **No** — No point of sale, no stock, no payroll — a walk-in is a booking. The included payment-tracking add-on records what each visit was paid, by cash, card or transfer, with part-payments and tips shared between the people who did the work, and Revenue split works out each team member's share at the percentage you set, month by month. | **Yes** — A free point-of-sale app with hardware sold separately, stock, gift cards and invoices. Payroll is its own product at $35 a month plus $6 per person paid, with commissions carried into the pay run. [source](https://squareup.com/us/en/appointments/pricing) |
| [Confirmations and reminders](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#reminders) | **Yes** — Confirmations, a reminder the day before at 8:00, two hours before or both — your choice — changes, cancellations and follow-ups by email, all included, in the language the customer booked in. By SMS too with the SMS messages add-on: the add-on is free, and SMS need a paid plan — billed monthly with it, per SMS, capped each month. SMS reach numbers in 14 countries today; Czechia, the US and Canada are coming soon. | **Yes** — Text and email reminders on every plan, from one hour to three days before, sent from a toll-free number with no per-message charge documented. Square Assistant lets the customer reply to the text to confirm, cancel or reschedule, also on every plan. Confirmation requests and custom text wording need Plus. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5351-manage-your-square-appointments-account-settings) |
| [Messages with one customer, in one inbox](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#customer-messages) | **Yes** — Messages, in every account: write to one customer from the calendar or their page by email, SMS or both, and read their answer in one inbox, with unread ones marked and the team told by email. Email is included; SMS need the SMS messages add-on on a paid plan, billed per SMS — Czech, US and Canadian numbers coming soon. The customer answers on a page the message links to, not by replying to the email or text, and cannot start a conversation. No WhatsApp. | **Yes** — Messages: one inbox in the Dashboard, the POS apps and Square hardware for texts, emails and feedback, and the customer answers by replying. On Square Free you can only reply — to a customer who wrote first or answered a receipt or appointment update; starting a conversation, a dedicated business number, coupons, PDFs by email and voicemail transcripts need Plus, $49 a month per location in the US. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/7985-get-started-with-square-messages-plus) (read 2026-10-16) |
| [Email and text campaigns](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#marketing-campaigns) | **Partly** — No bulk email or SMS campaigns. Included add-ons instead: a win-back sequence of up to three emails to customers overdue for a visit, judged by their own usual gap, never to anyone with a booking ahead and starting over after their next visit, the later ones with a one-time discount code; promotions and announcements on your booking page and your website, an announcement optionally kept on the booking page for customers who have booked before; and Campaign tracking, which shows which ads and links bring bookings. | **Yes** — On Plus and Premium: unlimited email campaigns, texts with 500 included on Plus and 2,500 on Premium then 3¢ or 1.5¢ each, and automated welcome, birthday, lapsed-customer and Google-review campaigns. Nothing on Free. [source](https://squareup.com/us/en/appointments/pricing) |
| [Reviews](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#reviews) | **Yes** — Collect a rating and comment after each visit, publish them on your booking page and website when you choose — all of them, never hand-picked — reply in public or privately, and ask every customer, not only the happy ones, for a Google review in the same email. | **Partly** — Google Reviews monitoring on every plan, and automated requests for a Google review on Plus. Square Feedback is private, collected through receipts and 'not publicly visible'. Collecting reviews and showing them on the booking page is not documented. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/8418-collect-google-reviews) |
| [Gift vouchers, discount codes and promotions](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#vouchers-discounts) | **Partly** — Gift vouchers, discount codes, promotions and upsell discounts, all included. No packages or memberships, and vouchers are issued by you rather than sold online. | **Yes** — Gift cards with a 2.5% load fee (none on Premium) and no fee to redeem; coupons on every plan; loyalty, promotions and prepaid packages on Plus, a package expiring within a year and not editable once created. [source](https://squareup.com/us/en/appointments/pricing) |
| [Google or Outlook calendar sync](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#calendar-sync) | **Partly** — Bookings are pushed into one Google Calendar per location as they are made, moved or cancelled. One direction only — Google events do not block your availability — not one calendar per team member, and no Outlook sync. Customers can add their own booking to Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar. | **Yes** — Google Calendar on Plus and Premium — import, export or both, per person; imported events block that person's availability at every location, from a month back to two years ahead. No Outlook and no iCal. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5387-sync-your-personal-calendar-with-square-appointments) |
| [Intake and consent forms](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#forms) | **Partly** — A consent checkbox in your own wording, with a link to your privacy policy — each customer's agreement is recorded with the date and the wording they saw — invoice details that can be optional or required, and a notes field. No custom intake forms or questions, and no e-signatures. | **Partly** — Contracts with an e-signature on every plan, sent automatically at booking; custom contract fields such as checkboxes and questions on Plus; up to five custom customer fields in the booking form. No intake-form builder is documented. [source](https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/8271-collect-customer-profile-fields-in-online-booking) |
| [Your data: export, import, API](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#data-portability) | **Partly** — Export bookings, customers and the activity log to CSV whenever you like. No import tool yet — customers from another tool are added one at a time or as they book — and no public API. | **Yes** — Appointment history exports to CSV, customers import from a spreadsheet, and cards on file can be exported to another processor on request. A Bookings API with booking.created and booking.updated webhooks — read on every plan, write on a paid one. [source](https://developer.squareup.com/docs/bookings-api/what-it-is) |
| [Support](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#support) | **Yes** — Email support, included, with the documentation at bookodile.com/docs behind it, and AI Chat in the dashboard, which answers how-to questions from that documentation and from your own settings. A new business is walked through its setup in AI Chat right after signing up — its services, texts and website — at no cost. No phone line, and no chat with a person. | **Yes** — Chat and email on every plan. Phone support on weekdays, 6am to 6pm Pacific, for the first 90 days on Free and throughout on Plus; 24/7 on Premium. Onboarding or migration help is not published. ## [Where Square Appointments is stronger](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#strengths)

- **[It takes the money, and it is a payments company first](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#strength-it-takes-the-money-and-it-is-a-payments-company-first)** — Square processes cards in person and online at the rates on its pricing page, and prepayment, a card held against a no-show, deposits, Apple Pay and Google Pay in the booking flow, invoices, gift cards and a full point of sale with hardware all run on it. Bookodile does not process payments; the payment-tracking add-on records what you were paid.
- **[Free with no staff limit — on price alone it usually wins](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#strength-free-with-no-staff-limit-on-price-alone-it-usually-wins)** — Square Free has no employee limit at one location, with the booking site, Google, Instagram and Facebook booking buttons and text and email reminders, and it costs nothing until you take a payment. Bookodile's free tier is one location with two active booking spots and 40 bookings a month; a larger team at one location is free on Square and paid on Bookodile. Compare the two bills for your headcount before anything else on this page.
- **[Customers reply to a text and the calendar updates](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#strength-customers-reply-to-a-text-and-the-calendar-updates)** — Square Assistant, on every plan, lets a customer answer the reminder text to confirm, cancel or reschedule, and the change lands in the calendar. Bookodile's SMS, with its SMS messages add-on on a paid plan, are one-way — the customer answers on a linked page, where they can reschedule or cancel, not by replying — and US and Canadian numbers are coming soon; until then Bookodile reminds there by email.
- **[The rest of the business in the same account](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#strength-the-rest-of-the-business-in-the-same-account)** — Email and text campaigns with automations, a loyalty programme, prepaid packages, payroll with commissions, stock, contracts with e-signature and a point of sale. Bookodile has none of these beyond an automated win-back sequence, promotions on the booking page and gift vouchers you issue yourself.
- **[Native apps, more channels and an API](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#strength-native-apps-more-channels-and-an-api)** — An iOS and Android app for the team, Reserve with Google, Instagram and Facebook booking, a consumer marketplace app in the United States, two-way Google Calendar sync and a Bookings API with webhooks. Bookodile's dashboard is a web app, its calendar sync is one way, it has no social booking integrations and no public API.
- **[A website builder with a blog and an online store](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#strength-a-website-builder-in-the-same-account)** — Square Online is listed on every plan, Free included: a website with page layouts, a blog, an online store and SEO settings, which can hold the booking site. Connecting a domain you already own, or buying one through Square, needs Plus — $49 a month per location in the United States. Bookodile's website is built from your booking setup and connects a domain you already own on every account, the free one included, but it has no blog and no online shop.
- **[A phone line](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#strength-a-phone-line)** — Chat and email on every plan, phone on weekdays, and 24/7 phone on Premium. Bookodile's support is by email, with AI Chat in the dashboard for how-to questions.

## Notes for anyone selling Bookodile

These are the claims not to make against Square Appointments, because they are not true:

- Do not say Square's booking page has no dark mode. The dark mode Square shipped in August 2026 is for the team's app; the customer page is undocumented, which is not the same as absent.
- Do not say Square cannot put two services with two team members into one appointment. It can, on Plus and Premium. What its help centre does not say is whether they run back to back or how each person's time is blocked.
- Do not say Square charges a commission or a booking fee. It does not; the only transaction charge is the processing fee, and only when a payment is taken.
- Do not quote $29 and $69 for Square Plus and Premium in the United States. Those are the older prices, still printed on third-party pages; the US page says $49 and $149 per location. And do not quote US prices to a UK or Irish prospect — their pages show £29 and £69, and €19 and €49 plus VAT.
- Do not claim Bookodile is cheaper for a team at one location. Square Free has no staff limit; Bookodile's free tier has two active spots. Sell the capability, not the bill.
- Do not imply Bookodile takes card payments, deposits or no-show fees, or holds a card on file. Square does all four; Bookodile records payments.
- Do not say Bookodile texts customers in the United States, Canada, Australia or Japan today. Its SMS reach numbers in 14 countries — the United Kingdom, Ireland, France and Spain among them, but none of those four — and there it reminds by email for now. US and Canadian numbers are coming soon; say so, and never that they work already.
- Do not say Square's resources have no capacity, that its calendar has no drag-and-drop, that it has no buffer before a service, or that a waitlisted customer cannot claim an opening. None of these is documented, which is not the same as absent.
- Do not repeat account holds, frozen funds, support wait times or removed features from review sites or the Seller Community as fact. They are complaints, not published behaviour.
- Do not quote a G2 rating for Square Appointments. It could not be verified on 2026-09-09.
- Do not say Square has no AI assistant, or that Bookodile is the only one whose assistant makes changes for you. Square AI (Managerbot) answers support questions and carries out tasks on the account with your approval; appointments are not among the tasks it lists.
- Do not say Square keeps no record of who changed an appointment. Its published Activity Log covers refunds, discounts and voids; a history of appointment changes is undocumented, which is not the same as absent.

## [Common questions](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#faq)

**[Is Square Appointments really free?](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#faq-is-square-appointments-really-free)**

Yes, at one location. Square Free has no limit on staff calendars and includes the booking site, Google, Instagram and Facebook booking buttons, text and email reminders and recurring appointments; the only charge is the processing fee when you take a payment — 2.6% + 15¢ in person and 3.3% + 30¢ online in the United States. Multi-staff booking, the waitlist, classes, buffer time, no-show fees and Google Calendar sync need Plus. Bookodile is also free, at one location with up to two active booking spots and 40 bookings a month, with every feature and add-on included except SMS, which need a paid plan, with US and Canadian numbers coming soon. It charges no no-show fees on any plan, because it takes no payments.

**[Can I move my customers and bookings from Square?](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#faq-can-i-move-my-customers-and-bookings-from-square)**

Square exports appointment history as a CSV file, and its customer directory documents a spreadsheet import; check what the directory exports before you rely on it. Bookodile does not import either yet. Customers are created the first time they book, so the list rebuilds as regulars return, and your team can add anyone by hand. Run the two calendars side by side until Square's empties.

No. Bookodile does not process payments, hold a card on file or charge a no-show. Payment stays between you and your customer, however you take it today, and the payment-tracking add-on records what arrived. If you rely on Square's prepayment or no-show fees, you will need another way to do that.

**[Which languages can my customers book in?](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#faq-which-languages-can-my-customers-book-in)**

Square runs in English, French, Spanish, Catalan and Japanese, and sends notifications in the business's preferred language. Bookodile's booking page comes in 17 languages, Slovak, Czech, Vietnamese and German among them but not Catalan or Japanese: each location has a main language and can add up to seven more, which customers switch between on the page, and every email about a booking goes out in the language it was made in — separately from the language you read your dashboard in. Its wording in the 13 beyond English, Slovak, Czech and Vietnamese was written by AI and has not yet been read by a native speaker.

They are Square integrations and end with the Square account. Bookodile has no equivalent: your booking link goes into your Google Business profile, your Instagram bio or a post like any other link, and a QR code is generated for print. Square Go is a listing in the United States only; the customers who found you there will need the new link.

**[What does each cost for a team of three at one location?](https://bookodile.com/compare/bookodile-vs-square-appointments#faq-what-does-each-cost-for-a-team-of-three-at-one-location)**

On Square, three people at one location fit inside Free, and if you need multi-staff booking, the waitlist or no-show fees, Plus is $49 a month in the United States, £29 in the United Kingdom and €19 plus VAT in Ireland, for that one location. On Bookodile, three people each taking their own bookings are three booking spots, which is above the free tier; the figure for your country is on the pricing page, and two of them sharing one spot is two.

## Who Square Appointments is for

Square is a payments company, and Appointments is the booking product
inside its stack: the same account runs the card reader, the point of sale,
invoices, payroll and marketing. The pricing page pitches the tiers at solo
professionals, growing teams and larger businesses with complex staff
management, and the consumer app, Square Go, lists businesses Square
describes as beauty and personal care. An account can be opened in eight
countries — the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom,
Ireland, France and Spain — and cards are processed only from the country of
sign-up.

Bookodile is narrower on purpose. It is for a business where the people are
not interchangeable, where a room or a piece of equipment is the real
bottleneck, and where one visit can involve two people. It does not take
payments, and it runs almost anywhere, in English, Slovak, Czech or Vietnamese.
Those are the rows on this page where the two products differ most.

## The pricing model, in practice

Square charges per location, per month, and never per person: 'there is no
employee limit' on any tier. In the United States, Square Free is $0, Square
Plus is $49 and Square Premium is $149, each per location, with a custom
Square Pro for businesses processing over $250,000 a year. Free is one
location only. On Plus and Premium every extra location pays the plan fee
again, and each of the two carries a 30-day trial. Moving to these plans is
one-way — Square says you cannot switch back to a prior subscription.

Processing fees are the other half of the bill, and they apply on Free too:
in the United States 2.6% + 15¢ in person and 3.3% + 30¢ online, lower on
Plus and Premium. Each country publishes its own rates.

The regional pages have not moved to the US plans. On 2026-09-09 the United
Kingdom still sold Square Appointments Plus and Premium at £29 and £69 per
location, Ireland, France and Spain at €19 and €49 plus VAT, Canada at CA$35
and CA$85 and Australia at A$40 and A$90 — and third-party pages still print
the older US prices of $29 and $69. Read the page for your country.

Bookodile charges per location plus per booking spot that actually took a
booking that month. People who take no bookings are not counted, and five
people sharing one spot are one spot. The figures for your country are on
[the pricing page](/pricing) and the model is explained in
[What Bookodile costs](/docs/what-bookodile-costs).

Be honest with yourself about which is cheaper for you. A team of any size at
one location that wants what Square Free includes pays nothing on Square, and
may pay on Bookodile. The case for Bookodile is what the rows describe, not
the bill.

## Two services, two people

Square calls this multi-staff appointment booking, and it needs Plus or
Premium; on Free, staff can still build such an appointment by hand, but
customers cannot book one online. The switch is *Allow multiple staff to be
booked in a single appointment*, and Square describes the result as booking
'different services with different staff, in a single appointment'. On the
team's side each service is added to the appointment and its team member is
chosen per service; 'assigned services will show up on that staff member's
calendar', and a tip is split across the people in proportion to what each
service cost.

What the help centre does not say is whether the services are placed back to
back or at the same time, whether each person's calendar is blocked only for
their own service or for the whole visit, and whether the online flow shows a
separate team-member picker per service. Reserve with Google bookings cannot
contain more than one service at all. This page does not guess.

In Bookodile the same thing is a combo service: one service with one person
and a second with another, as stages of one booking. Each stage carries its
own team member, its own duration and its own room if it needs one, and each
person is blocked only for their stage. The customer books once and receives
one confirmation.

## Switching from Square Appointments

- **Customers.** Square's directory documents a spreadsheet import; its
export format is not confirmed on its pages, so check before you rely on
it. Bookodile has no import tool yet; customers are created the first time
they book, and your team can add anyone by hand.
- **Bookings.** Square exports appointment history as CSV. Bookodile does not
import bookings; run the two side by side until the Square calendar
empties out, then switch the link.
- **Your booking link.** Every place the old link lives — Google Business
profile, Instagram bio, your website, the Square Online site — gets the
new one. Bookodile generates a QR code for the counter.
- **Your Square Online site.** It can stay and carry the new link, or
Bookodile's own website — included, built from your booking setup, at
yourname.bookodile.com or on a domain you already own — can take its place.
Bookodile's has no blog and no online store, so a site that sells online is
  better kept.
- **Reserve with Google, Instagram, Facebook and Square Go.** These are
Square integrations; Bookodile has no equivalent. Your Google profile can
still carry the booking link as its website or appointment link.
- **Payments, cards on file, gift cards and packages.** These live in Square
and stay there. Square documents exporting cards on file to another
processor on request. Bookodile records payments; it does not take them,
and it has no packages — its gift vouchers are ones you issue.
- **Contracts.** Square's e-signed contracts have no counterpart; Bookodile
has a consent checkbox in your own wording.
- **Text reminders.** Bookodile reminds by email, included, the day before at
8:00, two hours before, or both, as you choose. Its SMS, with the SMS
messages add-on on a paid plan, reach numbers in 14 countries — the United
Kingdom, Ireland, France and Spain among them. US and Canadian numbers are
coming soon; until then, and in Australia and Japan, reminders go by email.

## Where each one fits

Choose Square Appointments if you want card payments, deposits and no-show
fees inside the booking, a point of sale on the same account, a free plan
for a team of any size at one location, customers who confirm by replying to
a text, text reminders in the United States today — Bookodile's are coming
soon —
or a native app, and you are in one of its eight countries.

Choose Bookodile if your people are priced or timed differently, if a room
or a piece of equipment limits what you can take, if one visit can involve
two people, if your team needs to see the business's time zone rather than
their own, if your customers read Slovak, Czech or Vietnamese, or if Square
does not open accounts where you are.
