Comparison

Bookodile vs Vagaro

Vagaro is an all-in-one platform with its own card processing, a consumer marketplace and a long list of paid add-ons, sold in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia. Bookodile is a booking engine with every feature but SMS included, no commission, and a booking page customers use without an account.

Bookodile or Vagaro: what matters most#

Bookodile

A free plan, not a trial — with every feature#

Start free and stay free: one location, two booking spots, 40 bookings a month, and every feature and add-on, the website and AI Chat included. Only SMS need a paid plan, because each one is billed.

Vagaro

No free plan in any region: a 30-day trial, then a subscription per bookable calendar.

Bookodile

A website you build with AI — on your own domain, free#

Tell AI Chat what you want and it builds your website with you. The first draft comes in moments, made from your services, prices, team, hours and reviews, in a design you choose. Then just say what to change: “make it feel warmer”, “bring over the words from my old site”, “rewrite our About text”. Photo galleries sort into categories you name, and a category linked to a service gets its own Book button. Prices and opening hours stay in step with your bookings. Your own domain connects at no cost, and nothing goes public until you publish.

Vagaro

MySite is an add-on at $20 a month in the US: drag-and-drop, or Vagaro's team builds it for a one-time fee; a domain bought through Vagaro can't be moved to another provider.

Bookodile

AI Chat — an AI assistant that helps with everything you need#

Ask in your own words, typed or spoken, and AI Chat does the work. It sets up services, prices, the team and opening hours. It writes your bios and service descriptions and builds your website. It blocks out a holiday and hands those bookings to a colleague, moves bookings, and tells you what tomorrow holds and who changed what. Every change comes with Undo, in every account, the free one included.

Vagaro

Vera answers how-to questions and writes descriptions and campaigns, and Vera Receptionist books for customers; nothing changes your services, settings or bookings when you ask.

Bookodile

No commission, ever#

No cut of your bookings, no fee for a new customer, no charge per booking. Your bill is the subscription, plus any SMS you send, capped each month.

Vagaro

In the UK since July 2026, a one-time 20% fee on a new customer's first booking that came through its marketplace, Google, Apple Maps, Instagram, Facebook or Yelp.

These are only the main ones. See the full comparison, feature by feature

Why businesses switch from Vagaro#

Every feature is included, not sold as a monthly add-on#

Vagaro's subscription covers the calendar; forms, the online shopping cart, the check-in app, the website builder, text marketing, payroll, accounting links, the API and the branded app are each a separate monthly charge, from $10 to $100 a month in the US — the website builder, MySite, is $20 a month there once the site is published. Bookodile has no add-on prices: every add-on it has is free and included on every account, the free one too, and so is a website built from your booking setup, on a domain you already own if you like. The one thing billed by use is SMS — on a paid plan, per SMS, capped each month, and to UK numbers today, with US and Canadian ones coming soon — not Australian ones. Forms, payroll, an API and a branded app are not among Bookodile's add-ons at all.

Your customers book without creating a Vagaro account#

On Vagaro every online booking needs a customer account — 'Every time you book with a Vagaro business, you will need a Vagaro account' — created by email, phone, Google, Facebook or Apple and confirmed with a verification code. On Bookodile a customer types a name and an email or phone number and is done: no account, no app, no password.

No fee on a new customer, in any country#

In the UK, Vagaro has charged a one-time 20% fee since 14 July 2026 on a new customer's first booking through its marketplace or its Google, Apple Maps, Instagram, Facebook and Yelp channels; in the US, Canada and Australia the listing is free, and the opt-in Fill My Books and Daily Deals charge 20% and 5% per booking everywhere. Bookodile takes no commission and no new-customer fee anywhere; the bill is the subscription, plus any SMS you send with the SMS messages add-on, billed per SMS and capped each month.

You pay for the spots you use, not every calendar every month#

Vagaro bills each bookable calendar every month, whether or not it took a booking, up to seven paid calendars. Bookodile bills booking spots — how many bookings you can run at the same time, so four people sharing two rooms are two spots — and only the spots that held a booking that month; people who take no bookings cost nothing.

A room or a machine with a capacity and its own hours#

Vagaro's resources are one unit each, one per appointment, with no schedule of their own and no capacity field, according to its support replies on the resources article. In Bookodile a resource has a capacity and its own hours, and a service can need a resource alone, a person alone, or both, with the capacity enforced when the booking is made.

A booking page in Slovak, Czech or Vietnamese#

Vagaro's customer agreement authorises use only in the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom, and its site, apps and help centre are in English. Bookodile's booking page comes in 17 languages, Slovak, Czech, Vietnamese and German among them, with up to eight per location and a switch for the customer, set separately from the language you read the dashboard in. Its wording beyond English, Slovak, Czech and Vietnamese was written by AI and has not yet been read by a native speaker.

What each one costs#

Bookodile

A base rate per location plus a rate per booking spot that actually took a booking that month, in country bands. No commission, no per-booking fee, no feature sold separately — only SMS, if you send them, are billed per SMS.

Show prices for
  • One location with three booking spots costs $68 a month.
  • Free at 1 location, up to 2 booking spots and 40 bookings a month — every add-on included; SMS need a paid plan.

Vagaro

Per bookable calendar, per month, priced per region, with no free plan. The base subscription includes one calendar — a person who performs services; front-desk staff are not counted — at $23.99 in the United States (the support article adds 'Only for a limited time'), $35 in Canada, £20 in the United Kingdom (shown with £30 struck through) and $45 in Australia. Each further calendar is $10, $15, £10 or $15 a month for up to seven paid licences, after which new employees are free. Text marketing, forms, the online shopping cart, the website builder, the branded app, the check-in app, payroll, accounting links and the API are separate monthly add-ons, and more than one location is 'Contact Sales'. The 30-day trial has everything except email marketing, text marketing and the branded app. The software itself is month to month — 'Cancel anytime with no cancellation fees' — though fees already paid are not refunded, add-ons are billed to the end of the cycle and there is no pause. The one fixed term is on Merchant Services: take the free card reader and you agree to process with Vagaro for 12 months or pay an early-cancellation fee, £100 on the UK page, $140 on the Canadian page and $150 in the customer agreement for the US. The marketplace is free to be listed on in the US, Canada and Australia; in the UK, since 14 July 2026, a one-time 20% fee is charged on a new customer's first booking through the marketplace or the Google, Apple Maps, Instagram, Facebook and Yelp channels. The pricing page routes by the visitor's country, so the figures you see depend on where you open it.

Pricing#

A free plan that stays free#

Not a trial: a plan a small business can stay on.

Bookodile

Yes

Free at one location with up to two active booking spots and 40 bookings a month, with every feature and add-on — SMS aside, which need a paid plan. Not a trial — a plan a small business stays on. A paid plan starts with 14 days free rather than a charge. More

Vagaro

No

No free plan on any regional pricing page. The only way in is a 30-day trial, then a paid subscription per bookable calendar. Source

No commission on bookings#

No cut of a booking, no new-client fee, no per-booking charge.

Bookodile

Yes

No commission, no new-client fee, no per-booking charge. The bill is the subscription, plus any SMS you send with the SMS messages add-on, billed per SMS and capped each month. More

Vagaro

Partly

Being listed on the marketplace is free in the US, Canada and Australia — the pricing FAQ says 'at no additional cost'. In the UK, since 14 July 2026, a one-time 20% fee is charged when a brand-new customer books through the marketplace or the Google, Apple Maps, Instagram, Facebook and Yelp channels, collected as a 20% deposit at booking; bookings through your own widget, website or branded app carry no fee. Everywhere, the opt-in Fill My Books and Daily Deals charge 20% of a new customer's first booking and 5% of an existing customer's, with a $1.00 minimum. Source

Every feature included#

Nothing sold separately — text bundles, marketing, forms, a branded app, extra locations.

Bookodile

Partly

Every feature and add-on is included — reminders, reviews, vouchers, the waiting list, forecasting, Messages, AI Chat and the website with your own domain. The one thing billed by use is SMS: the SMS messages add-on is free, and each SMS is billed monthly with a paid plan at a price per country, never more a month than a cap that starts at the plan's own price. Each location is billed at a base rate. More

Vagaro

No

Sold separately, per month, in US figures: text marketing from $20, forms $10, online shopping cart $10, website builder $20, branded app $100 plus a one-time $100 and $10 per extra location, check-in app $10, live stream $10 per licence, payroll $34 plus $5 per employee (US only), QuickBooks $10, Xero $10, Data Lake $40, API and webhooks from $10, Vera receptionist $10, one-to-one training $100. Email marketing is free to 1,000 emails a month, then $10 to $90. Canadian, UK and Australian prices differ and sit on the same page. Source

The same features on every plan#

No capability reserved for a higher tier.

Bookodile

Partly

One plan, with free limits: every account, including a free one, has every feature and add-on. The one exception is SMS, which need a paid plan, because each one is billed on its invoice. More

Vagaro

Partly

There are no tiers — one subscription per calendar — but the base plan lacks the add-ons above, and several included features only work with Vagaro's own card processing: deposits, a card on file, cancellation and no-show fees ('Vagaro only accepts and processes deposits and fees from Vagaro Merchant Services'), selling gift cards online, and the API. The trial also excludes email marketing, text marketing and the branded app. Source

No minimum term or cancellation fee#

Bookodile

Yes

Monthly, no minimum term, no cancellation fee. There is no yearly plan. More

Vagaro

Partly

The software is month to month — 'Cancel anytime with no cancellation fees' — though subscription fees already paid are not refunded, add-ons are billed to the end of the cycle, and there is no pause: you cancel and reactivate. The 12-month term is on Merchant Services, not the software: the free card reader comes with a commitment to process with Vagaro for at least 12 months or pay an early-cancellation fee — £100 on the UK page, $140 on the Canadian page, $150 in the customer agreement for the US, where a $10 monthly reader rental is also waived only in months with $1,000 processed. Source

Processes your customers' card payments#

Takes the customer's money at booking or at the till.

Bookodile

No

Bookodile does not take your customers' money. The payment-tracking add-on records what you were paid; payment stays between you and the customer. More

Vagaro

Yes

Vagaro's own merchant services in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia, with PayPro terminals, Tap to Pay on a phone and same-day payouts. US rates for a business under $4,000 a month: 2.6% + $0.10 per swipe, dip or tap and 3.5% + $0.19 keyed in; above $4,000 a month, 2.29% + $0.19 plus a $10 monthly fee. UK 1.15% + £0.20; Canada 2.65% per dip or tap; Australia 1.90%. Another processor can only be used by recording payments by hand. Source

Booking on your own website#

An embedded widget or button, not just a link.

Bookodile

Yes

One snippet embeds the whole flow in any site — WordPress, Wix, Squarespace or hand-built — inline or behind a Book-now button in your brand colour. A QR code is generated for print. More

Vagaro

Yes

Vagaro generates the HTML for a widget that embeds in a page, a plain link, or a button that opens a pop-up or a new tab, with a colour picker, and one widget per employee or per location if you want. It can only be created on the web or the tablet app, and Vagaro says not to edit the code. Source

Customers book without an account or an app#

Bookodile

Yes

The customer gives only the details you require — a name, and an email, a phone number or both. No account, no app, no password. My Bookings, a web page they sign in to with an emailed code or Google, shows every booking they hold, if they want it. More

Vagaro

No

Every online booking needs a Vagaro customer account — sign up by email, phone, Google, Facebook or Apple, then a six-digit verification code. 'Every time you book with a Vagaro business, you will need a Vagaro account.' Source

Several services in one booking#

Bookodile

Partly

Combo services chain stages into one booking, and the extras you configure are offered during booking, in more than one round. Customers do not pick arbitrary pairs from the catalogue — you decide which combinations exist. More

Vagaro

Yes

Customers add up to six services to one online booking, on the same day, scheduled back to back; staff can add up to six in one go from the calendar. Service bundles group up to six services at one price. Source

Back-to-back services with different team members#

Each person is blocked only for their own part, not for the whole visit.

Bookodile

Yes

Each stage of a combo can have its own team member, its own duration and its own room, booked back to back. Each person is blocked only for their own stage, never for the whole visit. Staff move the whole visit in one step, with the times that fit every person in it shown first. More

Vagaro

Yes

In the same flow, 'You can choose to have each service performed by one or different service providers', and each service becomes its own appointment on that person's calendar. All of them must be on the same day and, online, in one contiguous slot. The help centre does not say in words that the first person is free during the second stage. Source

Rooms, chairs and equipment as bookable resources#

With a capacity, and bookable without a person.

Bookodile

Yes

Rooms, chairs and equipment with a capacity and their own hours. A service can need a resource alone, a person alone, or both, and capacity is enforced when the booking is made. A service linked to several takes whichever one is free; a booking never holds two at once. Each one is open to anyone who does its services, or kept for named people when it belongs to them — three juniors share a chair while the master has his own. More

Vagaro

Partly

A room or a piece of equipment attaches to services and classes, and Vagaro picks the first free one. Its support replies on that article say one resource per appointment, no schedule per resource, and a resource cannot be optional; a resource is one unit, with no capacity field, and nothing documents booking a resource without a person. Source

Classes and events with a capacity#

Bookodile

Yes

Events with a capacity and a registration list for one-off things; a recurring class is a service on a resource with a capacity, so it fills up and stops. More

Vagaro

Yes

Classes and workshops with an in-house capacity and a separate live-stream capacity, repeating schedules, online registration, a class waitlist and a 'seats remaining' display. Live streaming is a $10-a-month add-on per licence. Source

A different price per team member#

Bookodile

Yes

A service can be priced per team member, or per category such as Junior and Senior. The customer sees each person's price as they choose who, and the category's name too if you show it. More

Vagaro

Yes

'Businesses can also set different prices for their service providers who offer the same services' — price, duration and points per person, per service. Class prices are the same for every instructor. Source

A different duration per team member#

Bookodile

Yes

A service can take a different time per team member. Leave someone blank and they use the service's own duration. More

Vagaro

Yes

The same screen: 'Optionally, update the Price and Duration of the employee's service(s)'. Gap time mid-service is also set per person. Source

Buffer time that blocks the calendar#

Bookodile

Yes

Each service can have its own buffer after it, up to 120 minutes, which blocks the person and any resource it used. Enforced on the booking page and in the booking API. More

Vagaro

Yes

'Cleanup Time' after a service, up to 120 minutes, shown on the calendar; a setting adds only the longest cleanup at the end of a multi-service online booking. Separately, gap time mid-service frees the person for another booking. Source

A waiting list with automatic offers#

A cancellation is offered to whoever is waiting, without you doing anything.

Bookodile

Yes

Your team adds customers to the list; they cannot join it from the booking page. When a booking is cancelled, the time is offered automatically by email to whoever has waited longest for that service, with three hours to confirm — or until the time starts, if sooner — and confirming books them straight in. If nobody confirms, it goes to the next person waiting for that service within about ten minutes, as long as the time is still ahead and still free. More

Vagaro

Yes

Four modes, included: 'You Pick' (manual), 'Money Maker' (offers the slot to the highest-priced waiting customer first), 'First in Line', and 'Instant Book', which notifies everyone waiting and books whoever accepts first. Customers add themselves online. Source

Recurring bookings#

Bookodile

Partly

Your team can repeat a booking of one service from the calendar — weekly, every two weeks or monthly, up to 52 visits — and cancel one visit or the whole series. A combo or a booking with add-ons cannot be repeated. Customers cannot book a recurring appointment themselves. More

Vagaro

Yes

Repeat daily, weekly with an interval, monthly or yearly to an end date, editing the series or a single occurrence. The article describes staff creating the series. Service bundles cannot repeat. Source

Booking rules#

Minimum notice, how far ahead, approval, cancellation window, slot spacing.

Bookodile

Yes

Minimum notice (up to 72 hours), how far ahead (up to 365 days), start times every 5 to 60 minutes, auto-confirm or your approval, and a cancellation window (up to 168 hours) with late cancellation allowed or not — one set of rules per location. More

Vagaro

Yes

Lead time in minutes, hours or days; a booking window from one day to three years ahead; a slot interval; 'Require Acceptance for Online Booking' per employee, per customer type or after a number of no-shows; a block on new customers per employee; cancellation and reschedule cut-offs in hours. Source

Customers cancel or reschedule themselves#

Bookodile

Yes

Customers reschedule or cancel themselves from the link in their confirmation and reminder emails, or in My Bookings, outside your cancellation window, and can tell you why. A reschedule moves the whole visit in one step to a free time with the same team members and price, and the customer's calendar event moves with it. Inside the window they cannot reschedule online, and can cancel only if you allow late cancellations, once they accept they may be charged. More

Vagaro

Yes

'Customers Can Cancel' and 'Customers Can Reschedule', each with how far in advance you allow it, done from the customer app or the listing page, with an optional automatic refund of prepaid appointments. Source

Deposits and no-show protection#

Bookodile

No

No card on file and no deposits, because Bookodile does not process payments. A no-show is marked on the booking and counted on the customer's record, never charged. You can let customers cancel late once they accept you may charge them; collecting it is up to you. More

Vagaro

Extra cost

A card on file, deposits as a percentage or a fixed amount above a booking value, and automatic cancellation or no-show fees with a cut-off in hours. All of it needs the Online Shopping Cart add-on ($10 a month in the US, $15 in Canada and Australia, free in the UK) and Vagaro's own card processing; the fee is charged at the keyed-in rate. Source

Extras offered while booking#

Bookodile

Yes

Extras are offered while booking, per service or per category, in up to several rounds, with an optional discount for adding them. A service can be offered only as an extra, off the list of services. More

Vagaro

Yes

Add-on categories shown during online booking, set to one add-on or several with a minimum number to pick, 'to suggest additional services'. Membership savings are highlighted at booking. Source

What customers see#

A website for your business#

More than a booking page: pages for your services, team and story, made for you, on a domain of your own.

Bookodile

Yes

Included in every account, the free one too. Built from your booking setup — services, prices, team, hours and reviews stay in step with it — with templates (switching one keeps every page, or takes a template whole with its texts rewritten for your business from your setup), one page or several in any of them, your own look, extra pages, languages, your Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube as icons in the footer, and a photo gallery in categories you name — a category linked to a service opens its photos with that service's price and a Book button — photos made or enhanced with AI, changed by asking in your own words — pointing at any part of it on the preview — or by hand, typing straight onto the page and moving, copying or changing its sections where you see them, on a computer or a phone, and nothing public until you publish. An old website comes over by asking: its pages rebuilt as sections, with their own words and photos. It starts at yourname.bookodile.com; connect a domain you already own, at no cost, and it moves to www.yourbusiness.com. Every Book button opens your booking page at bookodile.com/your-business — the one under each team member with that person already chosen — and a Website visits report counts who came, from where, and how many booked, without cookies. Running promotions, upcoming events and announcements show on it too, and update themselves as they start and end. No blog, no online shop, and no code of your own. More

Vagaro

Extra cost

MySite, Vagaro's website builder and hosting: start from a theme and layout or from scratch, then build each page by dragging components onto it — text, images, video, buttons, and Vagaro components such as Book Now, services, staff, reviews, hours, facility information, gift cards and products, which sync from the Vagaro account and update by themselves. Publish when ready and restore an earlier version. Vagaro AI writes blog posts in the editor; no AI that builds or edits the site from a request in plain words is described. Vagaro's design team will build the site instead, for a one-time fee — $299 in the US on the MySite pricing article, though the MySite FAQ says $499. MySite is an add-on billed monthly on top of the subscription — $20 in the US, $30 in Canada, £15 in the UK, $30 in Australia — and free until you publish. The site lives at mysite.vagaro.com/your-business-name until you buy a domain through Vagaro — renewed every year, at a price the help centre does not give, and not transferable to another provider — or connect one you own with DNS records. Makes and improves your photos with AI#

Inside the product: make a picture for your website or profile from a description, or improve one you took — its light, its background, what is in it. Stock photos, ordinary filters, a background remover alone, or AI images only for social posts are partly.

Bookodile

Yes

Included in every account, the free one too, up to 30 photos a month per account, each try counted. Take a photo on your phone and Enhance it, a team member's or a service's too: in your own words in any language, with ideas for your kind of business, by picking a look from pictures, or by putting a person or finished work into a photo of your own place, with before and after to compare. Create a photo from a description for a place on your website that has none — the top of a page, a service's cover, a card, or your gallery — in your own photo style. Then say what should change, like "remove the hand" or "clear the background", and it edits that photo, keeping every version. AI Chat can make several at once. You choose each one, and nothing is public until you publish. It works on your website's photos: it will not make a person's face, your team's portraits or the outside of your place, because customers should see the real ones. More

Vagaro

Partly

Vagaro's Remove Background, an addition to Inventory announced in January 2024, 'uses artificial intelligence to tactfully replace the background of your product photos', at 'zero extra cost' and 'only available for iOS devices at this time'. That is a background changer for product photos: the Vagaro pages read describe no tool that makes a picture from a description or improves a photo's light, and the AI in MySite is described as writing text. Listed in a consumer marketplace#

A directory where customers find you — and your competitors beside you.

Bookodile

No

No marketplace. Your booking page carries only your business, and no competitor is shown beside you — which also means it sends you no new customers.

Vagaro

Yes

A consumer marketplace at vagaro.com and in the Vagaro app, switched on per business with 'List Business on Vagaro.com', which also feeds the Google and Apple Maps listings. Free to be listed in the US, Canada and Australia; a 20% fee on each new customer's first booking in the UK. Source

An app for customers#

Bookodile

No

No consumer app to download. Customers book in the browser. My Bookings, a web page they sign in to with an emailed code or Google, lists every booking they hold with any Bookodile business; there they cancel, keep their details up to date and can turn off a business's SMS. More

Vagaro

Yes

The Vagaro app for iOS and Android, where customers find businesses, book, pay and manage their appointments. An account is required. Source

Booking page languages#

What your customers read.

Bookodile

Yes

The booking page, the embedded widget and every email about a booking come in 17 languages: English, Slovak, Czech, Vietnamese, German, Hungarian, Polish, Ukrainian, Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Romanian, Croatian, Slovenian and Chinese. Each location has a main language — English, Slovak, Czech or Vietnamese — and can add up to seven more, from the same list as its website. With more than one, the booking page shows a language switch and opens in the customer's own language when the location offers it (from the link, their last choice or their browser), otherwise in the main one. Every email and SMS about a booking goes out in the language it was made in; SMS in Ukrainian or Chinese go out in English, because they would not fit one SMS, while their emails and booking page stay in that language. Service names, descriptions, team bios and the location's other texts are translated automatically by AI, and the owner can correct any translation; names are never translated. The booking page's own wording in the 13 languages beyond English, Slovak, Czech and Vietnamese was written by AI and has not yet been read by a native speaker. What your customers read and what you read in the dashboard are separate settings. More

Vagaro

Partly

English only, as far as Vagaro publishes: the site has US, British, Canadian and Australian English editions, the help centre lists 'en-us' as its only locale, and no article documents a language setting for the booking page. Slovak, Czech, Vietnamese and German appear nowhere. Source

Your business's time zone, shown correctly#

Bookodile

Yes

Every time is shown in the business's own zone, including on your dashboard. A customer in another zone sees both clocks before they confirm. Locations in different zones each keep their own; the group's combined monthly totals count on one clock. Each location writes its times on a 24-hour or a 12-hour clock (2:30 PM) — its country's until you pick one — on the booking page, in emails and SMS, on the website and in the dashboard alike. More

Vagaro

Not published

Vagaro publishes no article on a business time-zone setting. The only mention found is on the customer side, where search results show a business's hours 'in your time zone'.

Branding#

Logo, colour, custom CSS, custom domain.

Bookodile

Partly

Your own domain, at no cost: connect one you already own and your website moves to www.yourbusiness.com (the website row). The booking page its Book buttons open stays at bookodile.com/your-business, and the widget puts the same booking inside any other site you run, on that site's domain. Your logo, a second logo for dark backgrounds, a logo that links back to your own website, your brand colour with a contrast check, and announcements along the top of your booking page and your website. No custom CSS. More

Vagaro

Partly

Logo, photos and team bios on the listing page, which keeps Vagaro's shared design, plus a colour for the widget button. Your own design and domain need the paid website builder; your own app icon and colours, the paid branded app. Custom CSS and removing Vagaro's name are not documented. Source

Book buttons on Google, Instagram and Facebook#

Bookodile

No

No Reserve with Google or Instagram integration. Your booking link, bookodile.com/your-business, goes in your Google profile, your bio or a post like any link. Campaign tracking, an included add-on, gives ready-tagged links for Google, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok and counts the bookings each one brings.

Vagaro

Yes

Reserve with Google (once out of the trial, with online booking on and a booking in the last 30 days), Apple Maps, an Instagram 'Book' button, a Facebook 'Book Now' button and Yelp. In the UK these are the 'Partner Network' channels that carry the 20% new-customer fee. Source

Found on Google under your own name#

Your booking page or profile is listed for search engines, so someone searching for your business finds it.

Bookodile

Yes

On from the start, once an automatic check of the business name passes — normally within minutes: your booking page is in the sitemap search engines read, under your business's name, with your own description and address as the snippet, and Bing and others are told when it changes. A published website is listed the same way at its own address, from its first online booking or two weeks after publishing. One switch keeps both out. Search engines still decide what to show and when. More

Vagaro

Yes

Vagaro's 'Getting Found on Google' article tells a business to write its description, service descriptions and team bios in the words customers search with, and to earn links to its Vagaro listing page, so that the listing ranks higher on Google. The listing is a profile on Vagaro's marketplace at vagaro.com. The same article offers a MySite website, $20 a month in the US, with a domain of your own. Source

Running the business#

An AI assistant that sets up and runs your account#

Ask in your own words and it explains, sets things up and moves bookings. AI that only answers your customers, only writes copy or only answers support questions is partly.

Bookodile

Yes

AI Chat, in every account including the free one, with a daily allowance per account. Ask in English, Slovak, Czech or Vietnamese, typed or spoken: it answers how-to questions from this documentation and your own settings, explains why a day has no free times and who changed what; sets up team, services, prices, hours, rooms, booking rules, add-ons, logo and brand colour, and the order of your services and team; writes bios, your about text and service descriptions; builds and changes your website's draft and brings over the words of an old site; and moves, cancels or hands over bookings and blocks time, once or repeating. It shows every change first and waits for you to apply it, with Undo — only texts and the website's draft go in at once, still with Undo, and the website stays private until you publish. It answers you, not your customers, and does not create bookings. More

Vagaro

Partly

Vera, Vagaro's AI assistant, answers questions about using Vagaro in a chat inside the business account and the Pro app, and passes the chat to a support agent when it cannot. Vera also writes descriptions, bios, policies and campaign text for every business, turns an uploaded PDF, image or Word file into a form (Forms add-on), and as Vera Receptionist answers customers' chats and texts and, in chat, books, reschedules and cancels for them — $10 a month in the US, free for a limited time in Canada, the UK and Australia. Switched on, Vera Fill My Books has Vera create Daily Deals at the discount the business sets and send marketing emails and push notifications, for a fee on each booking it brings. No article describes Vera changing the business's own services, settings or bookings when asked. Source

Calendar#

Day, week and month; drag to move; blockers.

Bookodile

Yes

Day, week and month. Drag a booking to a new time or a different person — the calendar names any clash first, and Undo puts it back for ten seconds after. Block out time for the business, one person or a resource — once, or repeating every day, on chosen weekdays, every two weeks or every month. Add a walk-in; filter by person, service or resource. A visit with several services moves as one — dragged, or from the booking dialog, which shows the times that fit everyone first and still takes any other day and time, listing what it clashes with. More

Vagaro

Yes

Day, week, month and agenda views, up to ten calendars side by side in week and month view on a computer, a resource view, blocked time and a colour per person; a redesign in March 2026 added real-time updates and themes. Drag to move is not described in the articles read. Source

A native app for your team#

Bookodile

No

No native app. The dashboard is a web app that installs to a phone's home screen and works there, online. No push notifications: the team is told about bookings by email. More

Vagaro

Vagaro Pro for iOS and Android runs the calendar, checkout and most settings; a few things, such as creating the booking widget, need the web or tablet version. Source

Several locations in one account#

Bookodile

Yes

Up to 50 locations in one account — a guard against misuse, raised on request — each with its own team, hours, services and booking page. A new location can start from one you have — its services with prices, hours, booking rules, logo and colours and website — and takes the team members you pick. Customers are one list across them, a team member can work at several with one sign-in, and a group dashboard totals them. The free plan covers one location; each location is billed at a base rate. More

Vagaro

Yes

Multi-location accounts with a 'flagship' whose settings and prices sync to the others, fields locked or unlocked per location, multi-location admin permissions and a multi-location booking widget. The price is 'Contact Sales'; the branded app adds $10 a month per location. Source

Roles and permissions#

Custom roles, per-permission control.

Bookodile

Yes

Owner, Manager, Employee and Receptionist ready-made, or build a role and set each permission by hand — including whether someone sees only their own bookings, customers and figures, takes bookings at all, can message customers, or manages billing, which only the owner can give. More

Vagaro

Yes

'Vagaro provides five pre-configured access levels that you can change … or you can create new ones', with View and Modify toggles per feature and sub-feature. The owner always has full access. Source

A history of who changed what#

Every change to bookings, customers, services and settings, with who made it and when. A booking's own history alone is partly.

Bookodile

Yes

Activity records changes to bookings, customers, services, resources, the team, time off, blocked time and settings: what changed from what to what, who did it — a team member by name, the customer, or automatic — how and when. Each role sees the history of what it can open, a booking's own history sits in the booking window with what the customer was sent, and it exports to CSV. Kept 24 months, in every account. Not recorded: what a role may do, prices set per team member or category, payment records, billing and add-on records such as vouchers; a note shows as edited, never its words. More

Vagaro

Yes

A change log at the bottom of 21 settings screens — among them customer profiles, employee profiles, service settings, online appointment rules, notifications, the business profile and billing — names who added, changed or deleted what and when, searchable by setting, employee and date, on every account. Each appointment also has a timeline of who booked and edited it and the emails and texts the customer was sent. Changes before 17 August 2023 are not logged, and Vagaro documents the log screen by screen, not as one combined list. Source

Reports#

Bookodile

Yes

Revenue, bookings, average value and cancellation rate over the last twelve months, charted month by month, with bookings by status, new customers, top services and the team ranked by revenue; per location or across all. A no-show counts as a booking, never as revenue. Website visits shows who came to your website, from where, and how many booked. Forecasting, revenue split, booking sources and payments received are included add-ons. The period is fixed at twelve months. More

Vagaro

Yes

Sales trends and combined sales, sales by category, product or brand, transactions, the customer list, booking source by channel, rebooking performance, booking percentage, cancellations and no-shows, review management, payroll, time cards, time off, rent collection, inventory and check-in logs, exported to Excel or PDF. The Data Lake add-on ($40 a month) opens a Power BI template with over 50 reports. The list has no revenue forecast. Source

A leaderboard for the team#

Team members see where they rank on bookings or sales, with a winner. A report only managers can open is partly.

Bookodile

Yes

A monthly competition on bookings or revenue that the whole team sees, with a winner per category if you want one, results frozen and emailed on the 1st, and a Hall of fame. Revenue amounts stay hidden from the team unless you show them. Up to three at once, per location. An included add-on. More

Vagaro

Partly

The reports page offers a comparison of activity across the team, to identify top performers and make staffing decisions. Whether team members can open it is not published, and no leaderboard, competition or goal for the team is documented. Source

Point of sale, stock and payroll#

Bookodile

No

No point of sale, no stock, no payroll — a walk-in is a booking. The included payment-tracking add-on records what each visit was paid, by cash, card or transfer, with part-payments and tips shared between the people who did the work, and Revenue split works out each team member's share at the percentage you set, month by month. Vagaro

Yes

PayPro terminals ($150 to $800 in the US), a cash drawer and a printer; inventory with purchase orders, barcode scanning and partial-use tracking; payroll at $34 a month plus $5 per employee, US only; commission tiers and rent collection; QuickBooks and Xero at $10 a month each in the US. Source

Confirmations and reminders#

Email and text; included or charged.

Bookodile

Yes

Confirmations, a reminder the day before at 8:00, two hours before or both — your choice — changes, cancellations and follow-ups by email, all included, in the language the customer booked in. By SMS too with the SMS messages add-on: the add-on is free, and SMS need a paid plan — billed monthly with it, per SMS, capped each month. SMS reach numbers in 14 countries today; Czechia, the US and Canada are coming soon. More

Vagaro

Yes

Automatic confirmations and reminders by email, text and push, one of each per appointment, with configurable timing — the pricing page says 'Unlimited notifications & appointment reminders' and 1,000 free emails a month. Re-sending or custom messages need the email or text marketing add-ons. Source

Messages with one customer, in one inbox#

Write to a customer and read their answer inside the product — not a bulk campaign. One-way only is partly.

Bookodile

Yes

Messages, in every account: write to one customer from the calendar or their page by email, SMS or both, and read their answer in one inbox, with unread ones marked and the team told by email. Email is included; SMS need the SMS messages add-on on a paid plan, billed per SMS — Czech, US and Canadian numbers coming soon. The customer answers on a page the message links to, not by replying to the email or text, and cannot start a conversation. No WhatsApp. More

Vagaro

Extra cost

Connect by Vagaro, in the web app and its own phone app, gives the business a texting number: staff write to one customer and the replies come back into the same chat. Without a Text Messaging plan it works only in a chat the customer starts from the listing page, or while they are on vagaro.com or in the Vagaro app; anything the business starts goes out as a text and needs the plan — from $20 a month for 1,000 credits in the US — and every message sent or received uses a credit. Source

Email and text campaigns#

Bookodile

Partly

No bulk email or SMS campaigns. Included add-ons instead: a win-back sequence of up to three emails to customers overdue for a visit, judged by their own usual gap, never to anyone with a booking ahead and starting over after their next visit, the later ones with a one-time discount code; promotions and announcements on your booking page and your website, an announcement optionally kept on the booking page for customers who have booked before; and Campaign tracking, which shows which ads and links bring bookings. More

Vagaro

Extra cost

Email campaigns are free to 1,000 emails a month, then $10 (5,000) to $90 (100,000) a month in the US; text campaigns run on credits from $20 a month (1,000 credits, US) up to $2,500. Fill My Books and Daily Deals are AI-run promotions paid per booking: 20% of a new customer's first booking, 5% of an existing customer's. Source

Reviews#

Collect, publish, and ask for Google reviews.

Bookodile

Yes

Collect a rating and comment after each visit, publish them on your booking page and website when you choose — all of them, never hand-picked — reply in public or privately, and ask every customer, not only the happy ones, for a Google review in the same email. More

Vagaro

Partly

Reviews are collected from customers and shown on the listing page and in the marketplace, optionally only from verified customers; the business replies in public from the Review Management report and can award points for a review. No article describes asking for a Google review. Source

Gift vouchers, discount codes and promotions#

Also packages and memberships.

Bookodile

Partly

Gift vouchers, discount codes, promotions and upsell discounts, all included. No packages or memberships, and vouchers are issued by you rather than sold online. More

Vagaro

Yes

Digital and physical gift cards (sold online only with card processing and the shopping cart), discounts and promo codes online and in-house, packages that auto-renew, memberships with autopay, loyalty points and Daily Deals. Source

Google or Outlook calendar sync#

Bookodile

Partly

Bookings are pushed into one Google Calendar per location as they are made, moved or cancelled. One direction only — Google events do not block your availability — not one calendar per team member, and no Outlook sync. Customers can add their own booking to Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar. More

Vagaro

Partly

Google Calendar only, in either or both directions, one Google account per business: 'Vagaro currently supports calendar syncing only with Google Calendar'. Older Outlook and Apple links cannot be reconnected. An iCal export exists. Source

Intake and consent forms#

Bookodile

Partly

A consent checkbox in your own wording, with a link to your privacy policy — each customer's agreement is recorded with the date and the wording they saw — invoice details that can be optional or required, and a notes field. No custom intake forms or questions, and no e-signatures. More

Vagaro

Extra cost

The Forms add-on — $10 a month in the US, $15 in Canada and Australia, £10 in the UK — for consent, waivers, intake and surveys with digital signatures, which can be required for specific bookings. Source

Your data: export, import, API#

Bookodile

Partly

Export bookings, customers and the activity log to CSV whenever you like. No import tool yet — customers from another tool are added one at a time or as they book — and no public API. More

Vagaro

Yes

The customer list exports to Excel or PDF, by the owner only, and every report exports the same way. Importing from another system is free and done by Vagaro's staff in a booked session. An API with webhooks costs from $10 a month, needs card processing and allows ten webhooks. Source

Support#

Channels and hours; whether onboarding costs extra.

Bookodile

Yes

Email support, included, with the documentation at bookodile.com/docs behind it, and AI Chat in the dashboard, which answers how-to questions from that documentation and from your own settings. A new business is walked through its setup in AI Chat right after signing up — its services, texts and website — at no cost. No phone line, and no chat with a person. More

Vagaro

Yes

Phone lines in the US, the UK, Canada and Australia, email, and in-app chat through the Vera assistant with a 'Chat with Human' option; free workshops, videos and data migration. One-to-one training is $100 in the US. Source

Where Vagaro is stronger#

Being straight about this is what makes the rest of the page worth reading.

It takes the money#

Vagaro's own merchant services in four countries, card terminals, Tap to Pay on a phone, same-day payouts, deposits, automatic no-show fees, gift cards sold online, buy now pay later, and memberships and packages with autopay. Bookodile does not process payments; it records what you were paid.

A marketplace and five booking channels#

A consumer marketplace on vagaro.com and in the Vagaro app, listings pushed to Google, Apple Maps, Instagram, Facebook and Yelp, and Fill My Books and Daily Deals to fill quiet hours for a per-booking fee. Bookodile has no marketplace and none of those integrations; your booking link goes wherever you put it.

A whole back office#

Point-of-sale hardware, inventory with purchase orders and barcodes, payroll in the US, rent collection, QuickBooks and Xero, a Data Lake with Power BI reports, forms with digital signatures, classes with capacities and live streaming. Bookodile has no point of sale, stock, payroll, memberships, packages or custom forms.

Native apps, two-way Google sync, an API and a phone line#

Vagaro Pro and the customer app on iOS and Android, Google Calendar sync in both directions, an API with webhooks for card-processing customers, phone support in each of its four countries and a free staff-run migration. Bookodile's dashboard is a web app, its Google sync is one way, it has no public API and its support is by email, with AI Chat in the dashboard for how-to questions.

Cheaper for a large team#

Vagaro stops charging after the seventh calendar, so a team of twelve pays the same as a team of seven. Bookodile bills every spot that took a booking; compare the two bills for your headcount before deciding.

Customers text back, and an AI can answer them#

Connect by Vagaro gives the business its own texting number: a customer replies to a text and the answer comes into a chat the team shares, on the web or in the Connect app, with a Text Messaging plan from $20 a month in the US. Vera Receptionist answers customers' chats and texts around the clock and, in chat, books, reschedules and cancels for them, for $10 a month in the US. Bookodile's Messages go by email, or by SMS with the SMS messages add-on on a paid plan — to UK numbers today, US and Canadian ones coming soon, not Australian ones — and the customer answers on a page the message links to rather than by replying; its AI Chat works for your team and does not answer customers.

Who Vagaro is for

Vagaro is an all-in-one platform for beauty, wellness, medical and fitness businesses, and it means all-in-one: a calendar, its own card processing and terminals, a consumer marketplace, point of sale and inventory, payroll in the US, email and text marketing, forms, a website builder and a branded app. Its customer agreement authorises use in four countries — the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom — and its sites, apps and help centre are in English.

Bookodile is narrower on purpose. It is a booking engine for a business where the people are not interchangeable, where a room or a piece of equipment is the real limit on what can be taken, and where one visit can involve two people. It does not take money, it has no marketplace, and its booking page reads in 17 languages, Slovak, Czech and Vietnamese among them. Those are the rows on this page where the two differ most.

The pricing model, in practice

Vagaro charges per bookable calendar — anyone who performs services; front-desk staff are not counted — with the first calendar in the base subscription and each further one billed monthly, up to seven, after which new employees are free. The base price differs by country and the US figure is marked 'only for a limited time' on Vagaro's own support page. Then the add-ons: a business that wants intake forms, deposits and text campaigns adds the forms add-on, the online shopping cart and a text-marketing credit bundle, and processes cards with Vagaro, because deposits and no-show fees only run through its merchant services. There is no free plan; there is a 30-day trial.

Two things are easy to misread. The software has no fixed term — 'Cancel anytime with no cancellation fees' — but the free card reader does: 12 months of processing with Vagaro Merchant Services, or an early-cancellation fee. And the marketplace is free to be listed on in the US, Canada and Australia, while in the UK, since 14 July 2026, a new customer's first booking through the marketplace or the Google, Apple Maps, Instagram, Facebook and Yelp channels carries a one-time 20% fee, taken as a deposit at booking.

Bookodile charges per location plus per booking spot that actually took a booking that month, with every feature and add-on included and no commission. The one thing billed by use is SMS, per SMS on a paid plan and capped each month; they reach UK numbers today, US and Canadian ones soon, not Australian ones. The figures for your country are on the pricing page and the model is explained in What Bookodile costs.

Which is cheaper depends on your shape. A solo business with a light month is free on Bookodile and paid on Vagaro. A team past seven people gets Vagaro's cap, and Vagaro may well win on the bill. Compare the two for your headcount before reading further.

Two services, two people

Vagaro documents this well, so this section reports it rather than guessing.

On the customer side, Vagaro's article on booking multiple services says a customer can schedule up to six services at a time on a business's booking page, that 'these appointments can only be booked on the same day and will be scheduled back-to-back', and that 'you can choose to have each service performed by one or different service providers'. The customer adds the services one by one, picking any or a specific provider for each, then chooses a single start time; the whole block is contiguous, and the article warns that the customer might not be able to schedule all of them if the providers' availability does not line up.

On the business side, staff add up to six services from the calendar, each with its own employee, and on saving 'the appointments are added to the calendar' — plural, one per service on that provider's calendar. Service bundles go one step further: the bundled services can run at the same time with two providers, or back to back, each with its own provider and time. Bundles cannot be set to repeat.

What the help centre does not say in words is that the first person's calendar is free while the second person does their part. Separate appointments per provider make that the natural reading, but it is a reading, not a quote.

In Bookodile the same thing is a combo service: one service with one person and a second with another, as stages of one booking. Each stage carries its own team member, its own duration and its own room if it needs one, and each person is blocked only for their stage. The customer books once and receives one confirmation. The honest difference in the other direction: on Vagaro the customer assembles any six services; on Bookodile you decide which combos exist, and the customer picks from those.

Switching from Vagaro

  • Customers. Vagaro exports the customer list to Excel or PDF, from the owner's account. Bookodile has no import tool yet; customers are created the first time they book, and your team can add anyone by hand.
  • Bookings. Vagaro's reports export the same way. Bookodile does not import bookings; run the two side by side until the Vagaro calendar empties out, then switch the link.
  • Your booking link. The vagaro.com listing page, the widget on your site and any MySite page all point at Vagaro. Every place the old link lives — Google Business profile, Instagram bio, your website — gets the new one, and Bookodile generates a QR code for the counter.
  • A MySite website. Bookodile's website takes its place at no extra charge: built from your booking setup, at yourname.bookodile.com, or on a domain you already own, connected at no cost.
  • The marketplace and the booking buttons. The marketplace listing, Reserve with Google, Apple Maps, the Instagram and Facebook buttons and Yelp are Vagaro integrations. Bookodile has no equivalent; your Google profile can still carry the booking link as its website or appointment link.
  • Payments and the card reader. If you took Vagaro's free reader within the last 12 months, read the Merchant Services term before you stop processing. Bookodile records payments; it does not take them, so deposits, no-show fees and gift cards sold online need another way.
  • Memberships and packages. Bookodile has neither. Gift vouchers and discount codes exist, issued by you rather than sold online.
  • Text reminders. Bookodile reminds by email, included, the day before at 8:00, two hours before, or both, as you choose. Its SMS, with the SMS messages add-on on a paid plan, reach UK numbers today; US and Canadian numbers are coming soon, and until then, and in Australia, reminders go by email.
  • Customer accounts. Nothing to migrate. Your customers do not need one on Bookodile.

Where each one fits

Choose Vagaro if you want card processing, deposits and no-show fees inside the booking, a marketplace and booking buttons that bring new customers, point of sale, stock and payroll, memberships and packages, native apps, text reminders in the US, Canada or Australia today — Bookodile's US and Canadian SMS are coming soon — or a phone line to call, and you trade in one of its four countries.

Choose Bookodile if you want every feature but SMS included in one bill with no add-on list — a website too — and no new-customer fee, customers who book without an account, a room or a machine that limits what you can take, more than one location at a published price, or customers who read Slovak, Czech or Vietnamese.

Common questions#

Is Vagaro free?#
No. There is a 30-day trial, then a subscription per bookable calendar: $23.99 a month in the US at the time of writing (which Vagaro's support article marks 'only for a limited time'), $35 in Canada, £20 in the UK and $45 in Australia, plus a charge for each further calendar up to seven. Bookodile has a free tier that stays free: one location, up to two active booking spots and 40 bookings a month, with every feature and add-on included — SMS aside, which need a paid plan.
Can I move my customers from Vagaro to Bookodile?#
Vagaro exports your customer list to Excel or PDF, from the owner's account. Bookodile has no import tool yet. Customers are created automatically the first time they book, so the list rebuilds itself as regulars return, and your team can add anyone by hand in the meantime.
Does Bookodile take card payments, deposits or no-show fees like Vagaro?#
No. Bookodile does not process payments, hold a card on file or charge a deposit; a no-show is recorded on the customer, not charged. Payment stays between you and your customer, however you already handle it, and the payment-tracking add-on records what arrived. On Vagaro all of that runs through its own merchant services.
Do my customers need an account to book?#
On Vagaro, yes — every booking needs a Vagaro customer account and a verification code, and the customer app needs one too. On Bookodile, no: a name and an email or a phone number. A web portal shows customers every booking they hold, if they want it.
What happens to my Vagaro marketplace listing and Reserve with Google?#
They stay with Vagaro. Bookodile has no marketplace and no Reserve with Google, Instagram or Facebook integration; your booking link goes into your Google Business profile, your bio or a post like any other link, and a QR code is generated for print. If new customers find you through Vagaro's marketplace today, count what that is worth before you switch.
Which languages can my customers book in?#
Vagaro publishes its site, apps and help centre in English only, with no documented language setting for the booking page. Bookodile's booking page comes in 17 languages, Slovak, Czech and Vietnamese among them: each location has a main language and can add up to seven more, which customers switch between on the page, separately from the language you read your dashboard in. Its wording in the 13 beyond English, Slovak, Czech and Vietnamese was written by AI and has not yet been read by a native speaker.

How these comparisons are made

Every claim about another product comes from that product's own published pages and carries the date it was checked. Nothing is inferred from silence, no price is estimated, and no review is repeated as fact. If a line here is out of date, write to support@bookodile.com and it will be fixed.
